The seventh edition of the Harmonised System (HS), which is used internationally to classify goods traded between countries, takes effect on 1st January 2022. 

The revision will see significant changes to the Harmonised System and commodity codes, which may impact duties and other requirements of importing and exporting goods.

HS 2022 Revision

The HS 2022 revision is intended to ensure the Harmonised System (HS) nomenclature remains up to date and relevant to new technology and products.  

Every five years, the World Customs Organization undertakes a general review of the Harmonised Commodity Description and Coding System which serves as a basis for the tariff schedules of more than 200 countries and economies around the world. 

The key factors driving the HS 2022 amendments include:
