Take Five With Dean Jennings Banner

DEAN, YOU ARE COMING UP TO YOUR ONE-YEAR ‘WORKIVERSARY’ – WHAT HAS IT BEEN LIKE?

I’ve enjoyed it and to be honest it feels like I’ve been here much longer. I’ve settled in well and am a part of a great team where everyone cares about each other.

Although I’ve not met all the staff due to remote working, everyone has made me feel welcome which makes it a lovely environment to be in!

When I first joined it was quite a big change to my previous roles in the industry. I’m now working alongside customers as a dedicated partner rather than just delivering a transactional service.

I follow a booking process overseeing it up to a certain point before handing it over to the destination team. I’ve found this to be my preferred way of working as you get more of a sense of being involved in the supply chain rather than managing the one-off movement of a container.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF BEING IN THE TEAM?

Everyone looks after each other, if someone’s having an ‘off day’ there is always someone there to pick them up and get a smile back on their face.

WHAT WOULD BE YOUR LAST MEAL?

Lasagne with cheesy garlic bread and a beer.

NAME FIVE THINGS YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT

My family, friends, playing football, my phone and days out.

WHAT’S YOUR KARAOKE SONG?

‘Town Called Malice’ by The Jam.

WHO WOULD BE YOUR THREE DREAM DINNER GUESTS?

Tom Hanks, Robert Di Niro and Paul McCartney.
